Foreign Policy’s Jeffrey Gedmin wrote up a quick piece about Angela Merkel, and how she’s keeping the EU together by her fingernails. The article on the whole is more about the EU crisis, and why the EU is simply screwed, but it bookends itself with why, because of Angela Merkel, it hasn’t fallen apart YET.
Though I appreciate the fanboy’ing (because, yes, Merkel should be recognized), there wasn’t so much analysis of her policies.
A Business Insider article hints that the Merkel re-election in September referred to in FP’s piece is not the guarantee that it’s presented as. We’ll see how this develops.
